Prince George House of Prayer, opened officially October 2, 2005. It was a 10 year birthing process.
This is a place, where we hope you can come and quiet yourself and develop a deeper intimacy with God.
During the day, music is played and in this setting you can take extra time to wait on God and to listen for His voice. So often, we are busy doing a lot, even very good things....but maybe not the things that are on God's heart. It takes a quieting of ourselves, putting aside distractions, and waiting. Jesus was our example of this. He did only the things He saw the Father doing. He met with His heavenly Father, spent many hours in prayer, and from that intimate union where He heard His Father's voice in His heart...He did those things each day that were revealed to Him by His Father in His prayer times.
God is wanting us to become like Jesus. If Jesus needed to spend much time with the Father, how much more do we. Jesus loved spending time with Him. So often we think praying as a chore...so far, so far from how it really is meant to be...enjoying a loving relationship...interacting and sharing our hearts together like close friends.
"The Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend." Exodus 33:11.
Also, PGHOP is about learning to hear God's voice together, corporately. He speaks individual things to our hearts for our personal lives, but He also speaks thing for the city, for the nation and nations. He can speak those things to any of us. We just need to position ourselves and learn to listen.
"...and He goes before them, and the sheep follow Him because they KNOW HIS VOICE." John 10:4
This is a place, for both the beginner, who is wanting to learn to know His voice and for the seasoned ones, for both individual hearing and coming together in times of focussed prayer.
As you browse the site you will see the various focuses of prayer during the evenings and there may be one or several that stir your heart to be a part of. Listen to the Lord and see if you may be called by Him to join your prayers with others.
Youth and young adults...this is about you! Not just the older people. I learned to pray as a young adult, in a deeper way and I know many who do. It is the beginning of a life of adventure. We want you to be included and we value the things God speaks to you.
Also regarding children, the Bible says. "From the mouth of infants and nursing babesYou have establishedstrength, because ofYour enemies to make the enemy and the revengeful cease." Many times, they are more uninhibited and hear the voice of the Father more easily.
Psalm 131 says, "O, Lord, my heart is not proud, nor my eyes haughty; nor do I involve myself in great matters, or in things too difficult for me. Surely I have composed and quieted my soul; like a weaned child rests agains his mother. My soul is like a weaned child within me." I just "heard" God's voice through two of my grandsons the other day. They are two and three years old. At present we do not have children involved at PGHOP, but are praying for this to also develop.
We welcome you to come and whether you have a 15 minute time frame or several hours...you are welcome.
I write more about this in the "About Us" section under "Vision" and "The Story".
In the summer of 1995, the Lord spoke a word to me during a time of abandoned worship with my son, Steve, in our living room. He spoke the words, "24 Hour House of Prayer for All Nations" (Also, He said, "NEW SOUND").
The scripture of Isaiah 56:7 was strongly burned into my heart. "My House shall be called a House of Prayer for All Nations." continue reading how the PG House of prayer came to be...
We encourage local church participation and therefore we do not plan to have anything happening on Sundays. I appreciate pastors who feed the flock the meat and potatoes of the word of God and I support...read our values here...
